Utah has five national parks, each spectacular and utterly different, linked by some of the best driving in America. This is the definitive Southwest campervan loop.
The route
Start in Salt Lake City or Las Vegas and loop through Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef and Moab for Arches and Canyonlands.

The five parks
- Zion — towering canyon walls and the Narrows.
- Bryce Canyon — an amphitheatre of orange hoodoos at 8,000 feet.
- Capitol Reef — the quiet one: cliffs, orchards and Scenic Byway 12.
- Arches — 2,000 stone arches around Moab.
- Canyonlands — a vast maze of canyons carved by the Colorado River.

St George is a handy warm-weather pick-up right by Zion if you're starting in the south.
