Privacy Policy

Introduction

Roam Wired ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website roamwired.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website.

By using the site, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Email address: If you subscribe to our newsletter, or ask for your wiring diagram or plan from the calculator, we collect your email address. Requesting a plan creates or updates a Klaviyo profile and records a calculator request, including your selected UK or US calculator market and whether you requested marketing. This does not subscribe you to marketing. Roam Wired build notes are optional; you can choose to receive van-build tips, product comparisons and relevant offers, and unsubscribe at any time. Your diagram is available without joining build notes.
• Calculator inputs: Your calculator plan (trip details, chosen appliances and system) is saved in your browser. When you open the wiring diagram, email yourself your plan or add your kit to your basket, the plan is sent to our servers to draw the diagram and to create a private plan link, which anyone with the link can open. Plans contain no personal details unless you type them in.
• Plans in your shop account: When we email you a plan, we keep a record linking that plan to your email address, stored as a one-way hash rather than the address itself. When you sign in to your Roam Wired shop account, we get your account email from Shopify and match it against that record, so the plans emailed to you appear under My Van on any device.
• Accounts: If you created an account to save calculator plans, we store your email address and a securely hashed password.
• Enquiries and messages: When you send an enquiry to a builder or a message to a van seller, we store it and send it, with your name and contact details, to them so they can reply to you directly. When you ask for a conversion quote through a converter's quote calculator, your details go to that converter. You can also choose to join our newsletter when you send an enquiry; it's optional.
• Builder profiles and van listings: Details you submit for a builder profile or a van listing (business or van details, photos and prices) are published on the site. A van seller's email address is never shown; buyers contact sellers through our message form.

Information Collected Automatically

• Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site: pages visited, how you arrived, your device and browser, your approximate location, and calculator steps such as adding a kit to your basket. It sets cookies (named _ga) in your browser and Google processes this data for us. You can turn it off on this browser below.
• Vercel Web Analytics: Our host counts page views without cookies and without identifying you.
• Cookies and browser storage: Essential cookies keep you signed in if you have an account. Your browser also stores your calculator plan and settings so you can carry on where you left off. Google Analytics cookies are the only non-essential cookies we set. Retailers you visit through our links may set their own cookies.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Email you the plan and wiring diagram you ask for
• Send you our newsletter when you choose to subscribe, including advice and offers relevant to the plan you made
• Keep a record of requested calculator plans and measure new and returning requesters separately from newsletter subscriptions
• Improve our website, tools, and content
• Understand how visitors use our site so we can make it better
• Respond to your enquiries or feedback

We will never sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. We use these service providers to run the site and send email: Klaviyo (calculator-request records and optional newsletter), Resend (plan emails, enquiries and messages), Supabase (accounts, saved plans, enquiries and newsletter records), Vercel (hosting and page counts), Google (Analytics and web fonts) and Shopify (our shop, checkout and shop accounts). We don't sell your personal information.

Affiliate Links & Third-Party Services

Our site contains affiliate links to products on third-party websites (such as Renogy and Amazon). When you click an affiliate link, the destination site may set their own cookies and collect data according to their own privacy policy. We have no control over these third-party practices.

We earn a small commission on qualifying purchases made through affiliate links. This does not affect the price you pay and helps us keep our tools and guides free.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored with the service providers listed above. We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorised access, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.
