Airport, station and local collection

Zion has no major rental airport at its entrance. Las Vegas usually offers the widest choice and a simple interstate approach; St. George is closer but has a smaller flight and van market; Salt Lake City can work for a longer Utah loop. Driving and parking complications

A compact van reduces friction, but it does not create a parking space. Base in or near Springdale during shuttle season and treat the van as accommodation—not as transport to every canyon trailhead.

From June 7, 2026, vehicles over 35 ft 9 in long, 7 ft 10 in wide, 11 ft 4 in high or 50,000 lb cannot use the Zion–Mount Carmel Highway between Canyon Junction and the East Entrance.
During Zion Canyon shuttle operations, private vehicles generally cannot drive the Scenic Drive beyond Canyon Junction unless an exception applies. The shuttle itself needs no ticket or reservation.
Angels Landing requires a permit beyond Scout Lookout; a park entrance payment or campsite does not include one.
The Narrows can close for high water, flash-flood risk or other hazards. Never enter a slot canyon solely because the morning sky is clear.
Springdale and visitor-center parking fill early. Arrive before the rush, stay at a shuttle-connected site or use the town shuttle.
Utah is on Mountain Time; Las Vegas is on Pacific Time. Build the one-hour change into collection, campsite and return deadlines.
Sleeping in pullouts, trailhead lots or along the park road is not a substitute for a legal campsite.
